Creator notes
What is the Useful Pigs Plugin? In vanilla Beta 1.7.3 a saddled pig is a joke. You can't steer it, it wanders off under its own AI, it despawns the moment you walk away, and it eats your saddle when it dies. But don't worry, because this plugin will turn pigs into your favorite mode of transport. What it adds: Steering — the pig goes where you look, at roughly a modern sprint (6.6 b/s). No carrot on a stick needed. Never despawns — survives chunk unloads and restarts. Climbs blocks — walks up single blocks, but only when you fit through the gap too, so it won't shove your head into a ceiling. Drops its saddle when it dies. Rider-proof — you can't hurt your own pig, so you can fight and mine from the saddle. Wheat heals it — injured pigs also move slower. Follows you when you hold wheat. Swims properly — floats riderless, sinks gradually when mounted (so it's not a free boat), climbs out of shallow water, slightly slower in water.
