A new datapack is dropping! Modernized Dungeons! (Java Edition 1.21.9+) Please note that this pack does not replace OG monster rooms/dungeons, just adds this modernized variant to worldgen in addition. This pack is simple on paper, but fairly complex in execution. The classic box dungeons (aka "monster rooms") haven't been updated since pre-alpha...so how would modern Mojang do it? At its core, this overhaul is still the same structure: a small area made of cobblestone, a single spawner, and some loot. However, that's where the similarities end. While a singular box-shaped room is still possible, these dungeons now have MUCH more diversified layouts! Loot is now primarily obtained through pots, although the standard loot chest may occasionally spawn...as well as some low level ore storage blocks and a copper golem in a cage. Expect these to feel akin to a single room in a trial chamber. Different, but with a similar design philosophy. The two main goals of the layout changes are to slow players down so they cant instantly disable the spawner the moment they enter the structure, and to make each dungeon feel a little bit special and different.
